This page tests to verify that you are using the current version of Sun Java, as opposed to an older, problematic Microsoft version. 

If you see the login box below, you are good to go ! ! ! ! !

If it detects an older version, it will prompt you to upgrade. 

If you say yes, it will attempt to automatically download & install it from Sun Microsystems, owner of Java. This should work fine unless you have a firewall, proxies, or some other other restrictions on downloads. In that case, you can avoid any complications by downloading the upgrade directly from this Sun link (use the "Offline" manual install) and installing it yourself.  (On the same page, you can test to see if your browser will allow automatic installation.)
