Stem cells are in the news a lot lately. The term "stem cells" refers to a wide
array of different treatments that use very different types of cells. This study
looks at a method I haven't seen before. They take bone marrow stem cells that
are not hematopoietic, meaning they aren't able to turn into every kind of cell
in the body, and get them to turn into neural precursor cells which can
apparently migrate to areas of damage and differentiate into the cells needed
there.
