Hello, my name is Heather. I am 37 years old and I was diagnosed with ms on Mother’s Day of 2003.. As I have told many others, I sometimes wonder if I truly have this disease, because the only thing that I deal with constantly is Optic Nueritis, and Spastic Bladder.
At the time of my 1st attack, I was in Virginia with my husband on a mini vacation. I went out to the van to get our suitcase out of the car, and all I remember is waking up laying in the driveway with my husband and his friend standing over me. Once in the house, I got cleaned up and ready for bed. After a good nights rest, my husband and I decided it might be best to head for home, which was in Ky at the time. Once I was back home I had gone to go get my paycheck from work and get it cashed. Once I got to the store, It was all I could do to walk, from what I now know as foot drop. As I was sitting in the van I thought to myself” this is not right, there has to be something very wrong here” . So off to the hospital I went. After the doctor ordered a spinal tap and mri, it was found that I had ms. All I could think about was how in the world I was going to raise 2 boys, work a full time job and take care of my family.
While in the hospital, I did my first round of Iv Solumedrol. And I made preparations to start rebif as soon as possible. I really believe that if I had not had the roids, and got started on the rebif when I did, things would be totally different for me now. I also give credit to the friends that I had in chat for their support.
