Firstly, I wish to say that I hope all you MS’s are as well
as this blasted condition allows you all to be. A big thanks to Red & Deb for making this website available
to us. We all need company & a way to let off steam to others that understand. Also to be
able to chat amongst ourselves to share our interest, hobbies & pleasures, and most important of all: to have a laugh.
Sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I am Paul, Paul Eric Hurst to be precise.Known as “Smarty Pants” on here as
christened by my cyber wife (lol) & terrific mate Lesley Anne Cannon. Real life wife of Gabe
(Gabriel Marcucci), boy am I jealous.
Well, let me introduce myself. I was born in Newport Pagnell Buckinghamshire England. It was in a stately home, I hope to get the picture on
my website. http://www.paul.hurst.org/,
soon.
No I don’t come from the English aristocracy unfortunately. My mother like others was evacuated there from London for their splashdown.
This was for safety reasons because of the war. Damb! I’m giving my age away now.
To continue, I was raised (or should I say dragged up) in London. Deptford &
New Cross in the East end up to the age of 6. Hence a twang of Cockney in my voice. From there, having been kicked out by my GP. Due to suffering
badly from bronchitis & asthma. Maybe due to the London smog. Fortunately every trace
disappeared by the age of 11 like a switch being thrown.
From London, I spent 2 years living with my grandparents in the county of Kent till my parents got their own home in Basildon new town
in the county of Essex. Here in Essex, I spent most of my informative years. Early
courting etc. etc. LOL. Marriage then emigration to Aurora Canada (1972-1974)
with our first child daughter Joanne. Whilst they’re my son Darren was born. Back to Essex England where we became divorced. Unfortunately
not of my choosing. I actually suspect early Multiple Sclerosis symptoms were an
unknown contributing factor.
From Essex after some midlife courting, I decided to start a new life on my own & moved myself across to the other side of England to
the county of Devon. This area to me seemed like utopia.
But! & a big But! I arrived in Devon at the end of 1998. Some more midlife
courting, hiking (20mile walks across Dartmoor) It struck for sure. 1998 approximately. I noticed my right leg wasn’t doing what the
brain instructed. The GP was hopeless, he suggested a crape-elasticised bandage to
strengthen the knee. Pratt!! Anyhow I took it upon myself to write to a Neurologist. Got
an appointment and bingo. June 2000 I was diagnosed with MS. A few letters from them have suggested primary progressive
and also secondary progressive. What’s in a name, I’ll make my own mind up.I can’t walk properly but am mobile and as active as possible
& drive a manual gear change car.
Bye for now. Love to you all.
