Shannon Hello! My name is Shannon. I am from Texas. Born and raised in the Dallas area. Always a city girl until I met and married my husband who manages a ranch! So now I live in the country. All I can say is never say never!! I am also known as shannon282004 in the pwms chatroom. So here goes my story….I was diagnosed with MS Feb 2008. Symptoms started November 2007 with numbness in my feet that started on a Friday morning and by evening that feeling had traveled to my waist. Long story short….freaked out and head to the emergency room. A neurologist came in and they did an MRI and that showed two bulging disc in my back and the doctor said they were compressing some nerves. Well ok so whatever great I don’t have some big tumor or something that will kill me so now I can go home! Things got worse. My hands went numb. Could not write. Steriods did not help. So then I did 3 days of IV steroids. That did the trick. I was back to normal. So by December I felt great and normal and found out we were moving back to Texas!! I was excited. January 2008 I found a new neurologist in Dallas to address the issues of the bulging discs. Well about that time I started getting electric shocks down my arms. Soooo back to the MRI machine…this time a higher powered machine. That is when they found 3 lesions on my brain and one in my neck. After more and more tests and spinal taps (which were clear) they diagnosed me with MS. So on Avonex I went……Felt depressed gained 60 lbs and already needed to lose 30 or so… So jump ahead to May 2010. Got over being depressed!! Lost the 60 lbs I gained and still working on the last 30. I have been off Avonex for a while now because my husband and I would like children. We are both 34 so if we are going to do this we need to get on with it! I was worried about going off the shots, but so far so good and my MRI’s look good. Thank god!! |
