Hi Everyone,

My name is Georgie aka GG and I'm from Bayside New York. I have had MS for 33 years now...my first MS exacerbation was when I was 27...it was very dramatic as I was paralyzed from the arms pits down...As you may know there were no meds for MS in 1977 and the only test they had was a spinal, so I was not diagnosed at that time. I was going through a lot of stress at the time and I believe that is what brought on that exacerbation. I divorced my husband and lost my father and brother-in-law all in a matter of 3 months. I have 3 small boys to take care of and a business to help run with my mother. Not a good time, I can tell ya...Anyway it took the exacerbation about 3 months to remit and I can only say I was blessed from that time on. My MS remained mild and I could function normally and raise my boys and I met a wonderful man named Joseph and we were married very happily for 23 years.

In 1996 I began to have trouble again with numbness and drop foot and balance troubles. I thought I had a brain tumor..I had not been diagnosed with MS. So my doctor ordered an MRI and he diagnosed me. If you can believe...I said Thank God

....I continued to live normally until 9/11. My husband and my 3 sons all worked in New York not far from the twin towers and the fear was so unbelievable until I heard for each of them telling me they were ok....But my husband wasn't...on 9/14 he died from post trumatic stress syndrome. I did not know how I was going to breath after that...he was the love of my life and all of a sudden he was gone.

Thank God for my family, they held me up and got me through, but my MS kicked into high gear...Well its almost 6 years later and I am in a wheel chair but I am doing quiet well. I now have two beautiful grand daughters, Julianna Grace and Shannon Elizabeth and my family are my greatest support system.. I will not let MS consume my life. I love to garden and crochet and quilt so I am never bored thats for sure. I do some counceling on MS to the newly diagnosed which I know helps them and myself and in doing so I meet the most wonderful people. Isn't that what life is all about!!!!! I am so glad to have met all of you at peoplewithms chat. You bring joy to me and to all you talk with...God Bless You All
